So, I woke up today reading a new rumour running around blogs, saying that Microsoft is probably running a “iPad group/team” to either write apps for iPad or to study and come up with a suitable iPad competitor. Is it bad news, ofcourse not in both cases that is. If Microsoft is writing apps for iPad, be rest assured those will be one of the sort after apps(like Office module or something) and if they are working on a iPad competitor its still good as it keeps Apple on it toes to come up with a better product in each iteration(inorder to maintain its top position).
Well I have been talking about this for long, waiting for RIM to show off their iPad competitor and finally its out as “The Playbook“. My initial reaction, well its a decent impressive tablet, atleast in the videos and pictures. Hats off to RIM to pull up something like this, their earlier efforts to compete with iOS devices aka iPhone has been mostly unsuccessful. Will Playbook trounce the iPad sales, well we have to wait and watch. By early next year we will see plenty of tablets coming to market and Playbook will have to compete with them as well along with the market leader iPad.
How does it affect iPad owners, one word “COMPETITION“, specs wise Playbook defeats iPad and this may alert Apple to come out with a more stronger(better RAM & processing power), feature rich(camera’s etc) iPad 2. The Playbook comes out in early 2011 around the same time as next gen iPad is rumored to be coming to market.
