US-Tablet-Market-iPad-Leading

This shouldn’t come as a surprise but according to a recent Nielsen survey iPad commands about 82% of total tablet market in US. Which is humongous in any way, considering other companies are releasing tablets left and right. And it will continue until we find a worthy competitor which I will always appreciate. We need competition :)

iPad Scores 77% Tablet Market Share, Android Gaining

January 31, 2011  |  iPad Competitors, iPad News  |  No Comments

So the latest report suggests that iPad holds about 77% share in the tablet market with Android at second place at around 22%. There is a bit of slide for iPad from last year, which is expected since we saw a countless number of Android tablets trying to compete with iPad.

Let’s be real here there was no tablet market before iPad, it literally started with it and hence it held about 95% last year which is obviously will go down since now major companies get into the whole game. Lets see how this battle plays out, Apple really needs to make a statement with iPad 2, otherwise it will find difficult to stand against some impressive Android tablets coming out in future.

Video : Blackberry Playbook Browsing Compared With iPad

November 16, 2010  |  iPad Competitors, iPad News, iPad Video  |  2 Comments

In case you didn’t knew, Playbook is the upcoming tablet from RIM which was showcased earlier this year. Now it seems to be default trend for any tablet to get iPad comparisons done for itself. Playbook is not behind, here is a video where the browsing experience is compared on both the tablets.

Now If you have been reading the blog, you might have noticed that I am pretty open when it comes to iPad competitors, if they are good I will clearly mention the same. Now since its a video from RIM showcasing their upcoming tablet, iPad had to loose. If Apple did a video comparing both, pretty sure iPad would have won. Now since we have kept these things aside, well Playbook seems like pretty nice tablet. Flash bashing on iOS devices should be avoided since its a getting old, apart from that I hope Apple take notice of these things and work towards improving the performance(considering the things shown in video stands true).

Motorola Working On A iPad Like Android Tablet

November 3, 2010  |  iPad Competitors, iPad News  |  No Comments

So, while travelling today to office got in discussion with some Motorola Employees. First I congratulated them on the success/profit story of their mobile division which got the talking started. Then like always I went ahead and started telling them how iPad is beating all its competitors to the ground. Hearing that they dropped the line on me that “wait till you see the Motorola Android Tablet which will blow your mind“. A mysterious unannounced tablet, I wanted to know more. Although they were not comfortable in sharing any more details and specs about that tablet apart from that in form factor it almost the size of iPad. And is very well ready, being tested in their labs. I am not well versed with the Motorola Product release line-up, but releasing it around holiday season might make the tablet a hot gadget to choose from.

And for the Android folks, I got more info from them that Motorola is coming up with a Motorola Milestone 2 with a dual core 1ghz processor. So, no need to overclock your Android phones in future. I hope Apple is reading this and might take some notes for next iPad/iPhone processing power. I wonder if they are using the same processor in the Motorola Tablet, that would make it a killer tablet specs wise atleast.
